After spending the evening in Twizel (T-wise-ell) we next boarded the coach and headed into the Mt. Cook National Park. Those of you who have been fortunate enough to visit Yosemite, CA, will recognize the glacial valley. Mommy was struck by the similarities and described it as “Yosemite Valley minus the Sequoias”. We had glorious blue skies to take in the sights. Mt. Cook, or Aoraki as the Maori named it (cloud-piercer), is often obscured by clouds. The gods were smiling on us this day to grant such perfect conditions!
We also met some of the locals…
And had time for a short walk to Kea Point…
We finished the day with a pint and a burger at Queenstown’s famous Ferg Burger in the heart of downtown
Your Mom and Mini Me must be having a blast. We love seeing the pictures and reading about the travels. You have got Mom bugging Dad for a vacation, even if it is just a few hour drive away. I heard that I will get to vacation at my Auntie Jen’s house with my cousins!

Loving it very much! Mt. Cook area is especially beautiful because of all the native plants. Free from trees, one can truly appreciate the force of glacial ice on the valley’s formation.

This scenery reminds me of so many places in California – up near Shasta, or Woods Lake near Tahoe, and of course, Yosemite! Glad you are enjoying it all!
