Ooh, La La!   8 comments

Miss D got a haircut! Her new groomer, Ciara at Ooh La La, is a miracle worker. Miss D’s eyes get so weepy, I feel like I’m fighting a losing battle. Her mustache was so matted around the eyes, we had to shave it. But look at her now! All smiles!

Miss D has had a mobile groomer ever since she joined the household. Checkers’ regular groomer refused to take Deita. She was not afraid of Deita but was afraid of her high energy. Back then, Miss D got a little crazier out in public than she does now.

But after Miss D’s groomer moved to Chicago, I’ve had a hard time finding another decent groomer who would come to the house. I’ve heard good things about Ooh La La, so I made the appointment and hoped for the best. Miss D was on her best behavior today! She was talkative and antsy and I’m told she did react when other dogs came into view, but that’s all!

And she never reacted to the groomers themselves. Anyone who has come to my house knows what a big deal that is. Probably my biggest worry about taking her in today. First impressions count after all!

Yay, Miss D!

Okay, question to all the weepy-eyed dog owners out there. What do you do? I’ve dealt with schnauzer bumps, hot spots, itchy skin and allergies, but never this. I need to up the cleaning sessions, but is there a trick to keeping them clear?

  1. So your training sessions with Ms. D are showing some positive results. I notice that when she comes to our house, she is quite calm. No more barking when the door is opened. She really has calmed down. Hope you find an answer to the weepy eyes problem.

  2. Miss D. looks beautiful!!! For the eyes I asked my shi-tzu girlfriend, they use a product of jean peau and they are very satisfied with it…

  3. Good for you Miss D and you look just fabulous with your new hair cut. I’ve heard tea bags (don’t know if you get rooibos tea there but they are great) help with such things. Maybe worth giving it a try?

My post that I wrote a while back may have some information you can use in it: http://comewagalong.com/maintaining-a-beautiful-white-coat-part-ii/

    • thanks, Kia, those responses are very helpful. I already use an oatmeal based shampoo because schnauzers are prone to skin problems and oatmeal is good for the skin.

I was cleaning her eyes about once a week but since this post have switched to a daily check/cleaning with wipes and have bought some lubricating eye drops to help.

Of course, the issue cleared up within 24 hours of getting her trim anyway. So now it’s up to her mom (me) to keep it that way. I may need to take her in for a mustache trim in between the full-groom appointments as well. Keep that curly hair out of her eyes.

  5. Swit swoo. It’s great when you find a groomer that you (and your dog) likes.
